 What's in a name?

Petra Solutions Inc. has derived its name for three reasons:

The word "Petra" is a Greek word that can be translated "massive rock". It is our intent to provide solutions that are rock solid and reliable. Petra, being a Greek word was also selected to honor the Greek heritage of the President and founder of Petra Solutions Inc. Finally, the word is used in the New Testament to clarify the foundation of the church. In honor of the founder of the company's faith, this word applies as well.

 In business since 1994

Initially, the focus of Petra Solutions Inc was to provide accounting solutions for the finance industry. This led to expertise in database technologies. We determined that in order to provide reliable solutions for accounting systems, we needed to develop in multiple operating systems along with multiple databases such as Access, Foxpro, SQL Server, SyBase, and Oracle. As the internet continued to impact business, these database technologies segued to utilizing databases in web technologies.

 What is the process?

Our specialty is in bringing together the understanding of the problem with a proposal of solutions.

The process begins by listening to the client. We believe that what one does for an 8 hour day will probably lend to the highest degree of knowledge. There will be shades and similarities across most businesses; however, as every human being is an individual, every business has individual characteristics. Our goal is to discover through the information gathering step, who our client is, and how can we best assist them in achieving their vision of success.

If we truly understand the vision of the company, we'll better understand how to approach the problem. Feedback to the client. Documentation that defines the problem in writing.

Proposal of solutions:

Solutions may be suggested that can be applied immediately or sequentially as a business grows. A formal proposal detailing the scope of the solution(s) is provided. Timelines are set, milestones are marked, and communication is provided in order for the client to adequately remain in control of the project.
